On November 18-20, the museum branch was busy meeting at one of the most important trade shows for museums, cultural heritage and conservation in Europe - the EXPONATEC COLOGNE. Almost 200 international companies presented their solutions and innovations to more than 4,000 professional visitors from 40 different countries.
Multimedia guides were of course one big topic among the visitors. Very noticeably, the interest in app solutions and technology for in-door positioning (e.g., with beacons) has become huge. Nevertheless museums are far from being disinterested in the more “classical” solution of multimedia guides. Especially in the context of accessibility and senior museum visitors, classic multimedia guides are still highly demanded because of their ease of use. So, Acoustiguide’s new wireless charging rack (which charges smart devices as well as the more classic multimedia guide Opus+) offers a perfect solution to satisfy the needs of different target groups.
Accessibility in general was one of the most talked-about topics at the Acoustiguide booth. EXPONATEC visitors were highly interested in content productions for people with hearing, visual or learning impairment and what technological solutions are best to make these specific kinds of content accessible. We were very happy that we had one of the managing directors of Gebärdenwerk as a guest consultant at our booth. Gebärdenwerk is a specialist in the production of content in sign languages. Together with Gebärdenwerk, we have realized various videoguide projects during the past years.
With a constantly high attendance of visitors at our booth and many interesting talks and impressions, the three days of EXPONATEC went by flying. It was an amazing time and we already are looking forward to the next EXPONATEC!
